Susan Gluck Pappajohn

Susan is a seasoned executive whose multi-faceted career has spanned the arts, technology and non-profit sectors working for companies such as the New York City Ballet, Time Warner, IBM and, more recently, the executive search firms Phillips Oppenheim and Heidrick & Struggles.

Susan joined the New York City Ballet at 17 and danced for eight years under the leadership of George Balanchine, Peter Martins and Jerome Robbins performing in numerous leading roles.

After her performing career, Susan received a BA from Harvard College and an MBA from the Wharton School. After Wharton, Susan co-founded Time Warner Electronic Publishing, one of Time Warner's first digital media groups. Susan later joined IBM where she was the General Manager of IBM Consumer Software, a Corporate Marketing Director overseeing global brand licensing (reporting directly to IBM's CMO), and VP, Marketing Management for IBM Global Services, IBM's largest division.

For the past decade, Susan has been deeply involved in helping mission-driven organizations achieve their goals. She has worked as both a consultant and board member serving the cultural, health, education and social service sectors. Susan originally joined Phillips Oppenheim as a Principal in 2008. In 2019, she returned to the firm as a leadership and organizational consultant.

Susan is a Trustee of the George Balanchine Trust, Vice-Chair of Dance/NYC and a Director of The Joyce Theater Foundation and Professional Children's School.
